“Dall’America: lettere ai familiari (1925-26)” (“From America: Letters to Family Members (1925–26)”)

Cod.: COM0018

DESCRIPTION:
In the summer of 1925, at the age of 24, Adriano Olivetti embarked for the United States with the aim of studying the organisation of American factories and perfecting his English. During his five-month stay, he often wrote to his parents and siblings, recounting his impressions in affectionate, thoughtful and brilliant letters. In the correspondence with his father Camillo, who had most urged him to leave, differences of opinion on the management of the family business emerge for the first time, but it is during this trip that the young Adriano is convinced to accept his role as the future head of Olivetti. A choice that matures between the admiring discovery of the efficiency of the American model and the feeling of deep indignation aroused by the encounter with the America of the “god of money”.
