la Certosa di Parma (The Charterhouse of Parma)

Cod.: STR0049

DESCRIPTION:
The volume is part of the Strenna editions that Olivetti created from 1972 as Christmas gifts: a series of literary works of indisputable fame, illustrated with tables specifically commissioned from contemporary artists. Stendhal was a profound connoisseur and admirer of Italy. He was acquainted with princes, soldiers, famous ladies, poets and artists. In the novel “La Certosa di Parma”, the most typical of his works, he depicts our country through the stories of the young Fabrizio del Dongo, who is torn between dreams of love and glory. These are the years of Napoleon, of idealistic ferment and exciting passions: Fabrizio goes to war but soon returns to Italy, where a long season of incredible adventures begins for him. Famous episodes of the Battle of Waterloo, the descriptions of court intrigues and imprisonment: Stendhal manages to tell the story of love, heroism and cunning, engaging his readers, and at the same time attending with a detached spirit to the unfolding of events, precisely he who in this novel has transfused his every authentic life experience.
