ELEA 9003, History of the first Italian electronic computer

Cod.: COM0011

DESCRIPTION:
In 1949, Adriano Olivetti began to imagine the new future of his company and the path that would lead Olivetti, ten years later, to present the Elea 9003, the first commercial electronic computer designed and manufactured in Italy, to the world. It was created in a small workshop in Pisa by a group of young people led by visionary Italian-Chinese engineer, Mario Tchou. The Elea 9003 was to be a success from a technological and scientific point of view and an innovative model in many other respects: from the working method to the design by Ettore Sottsass, from cultural suggestions to marketing strategies. An extraordinary invention, the result of tenacity and vision, coherently grafted into the history of one of the Italian and global companies most capable of anticipating tomorrow.
