Triennale Milano
Viale Emilio Alemagna 6 – Milano
A comprehensive retrospective dedicated to Gae Aulenti (1927-2012), one of the most iconic figures in contemporary architecture and design.
Over a career spanning more than sixty years, this versatile designer explored numerous fields: from urban-scale design to exhibition design, from landscape architecture to interior design, from furniture design to graphics, and even theatrical scenography. Gae Aulenti’s story is presented in both analytical and spectacular forms, showcasing her unique way of seeing, imagining, and designing reality, which has influenced both Italian and international contexts of the late twentieth century.
The exhibition pathway is comprised of full-scale environments, featuring original materials preserved in the architect’s Milan archive, including drawings, photographs, and models.
The Associazione Archivio Storico Olivetti has loaned two iconic objects designed for Olivetti: the melamine ashtray by Giorgio Soavi (1965) and the enameled iron pencil holder tray by Ettore Sottsass Jr. (1966).
